Yellow Boring Sponge

This sponge is the largest sponge in the Atlantic area and is highly visible as it forms large fleshy yellow masses often isolated on poorly inhabited rocks.

It may reach 60 cm across, with clear pores visible over the structure of the sponge. The pores or oscules are at the end of small outgrowths mainly on the upper part of the animal.  Deep living, it is found from the surface to 200 metres deep.
